Product Specification
A reed nut is a common type of fastener that works based on the properties of reeds. A reed nut usually consists of one or more reeds and a nut. Their primary function is to provide preload in threaded connections and to prevent loosening.
A reed is a flexible piece of metal, commonly made of stainless steel, spring steel, etc. The reeds in a reed nut are usually curved in shape, and the spacing between them allows the reeds to move relatively freely. When the nut is tightened, the reeds are compressed, generating an elastic force that creates a tight connection between the nut and the bolt. The operation of a reed nut can be divided into two stages: preloading and locking. In the preload stage, when the nut begins to tighten, the reed is compressed and begins to deform elastically. This elastic deformation allows the reed nut to provide a certain amount of preload, preventing the threaded connection from loosening during use.
U-Nuts are self-retaining fasteners that provide an easy and fast attachment of mating panels and will not turn as the screw is driven into place, or freeze on screw threads. U-Nuts have a full lower leg that is ideal for full bearing in applications. They are cost-saving because they can be installed without special tools, removed, and used again. Both Speed Nuts U-Shaped and U-Nut Tapped Barrel styles retain their spring resiliency and holding power.
Self-retaining U-Nut fasteners are simply clipped, latched, or pressed into their mounting holes at the panel edge or central panel location. The mating panel is positioned and the screws are driven in for a solid, reliable assembly. U-Nuts can be installed for both blind and front mounting attachments. U-Nuts combines the robustness of a traditional mechanical fastener and the versatility of spring steel clips to create a value-added panel assembly solution.
