Product Specification

The Resilient Self-Locking Retaining Ring is a customized retaining ring designed to help increase the rotational capacity of the retaining ring, making it ideal for applications with high rotational capacity requirements. The self-locking feature is accomplished by a protrusion and a groove that can be interlocked to prevent the retaining ring from expanding. The protrusion fits perfectly into the groove on the mating turnbuckle so that when the retaining ring is installed into the groove, the protrusion snaps into the groove. This feature allows the retaining ring to operate properly at speeds far exceeding the rotational capacity of standard elastic retaining rings. Thus, this self-locking feature allows the retaining ring to operate at high speeds, withstand vibration, and accelerate while absorbing some degree of shock load. The self-locking protrusion can be located on the outer diameter of the retaining ring (for external resilient retaining rings), on the inner diameter (for internal resilient retaining rings), or on the centerline.    


Resilient retaining rings for shafts are subject to centrifugal forces. If these centrifugal forces are large enough to cause the elastic retaining ring to expand so that it no longer fits tightly in the groove, failure may occur. As more and more applications require higher rotational capacities. If your application needs exceed the recommended rotational capacity indicated for standard elastomer retaining rings, customized retaining rings or self-locking retaining rings are available for specific application requirements. Since rotational capacity is a function of several parameters (i.e., thickness, radial wall size, fit, and interference fit between retaining ring and groove, diameter, etc.), it can be increased by increasing the radial wall size and/or the fit of the retaining ring to the groove. If, after some adjustment, the rotational capacity is still not sufficient for the application, a retaining ring self-locking function can be added.

Product Packaging

Packing: The inner packaging consists of polyfoam, while the outer layer is a carton. The carton sizes are 29*19*19.5 cm and 23.5*17.5*8 cm, respectively. The pallet dimensions are 215*100*90 cm, or they can be customized according to your requirements.
