7. Quenching: austenitizing steel after cooling at an appropriate cooling rate so that the workpiece is in the cross-section of all or a specific range of unstable organizational structures of martensite and other transformations in the heat treatment process.

8. Tempering: A heat treatment process in which a hardened workpiece is heated to a suitable temperature below the critical point AC1 for a certain period and subsequently cooled by a method that meets the requirements to obtain the desired organization and properties.
