Self-Clinching Threaded Studs Installation for metal panel solutions

Self-clinching studs are installed by placing them in properly sized holes in the sheets and squeezing them into place with any standard press. The squeezing action embeds the head of the stud into the sheet. The metal displaced by the head flows smoothly and evenly around the ribs and into the annular groove – creating a flush head assembly and securely locking the stud into the sheet with high torque-out and pushout resistances.

FH (flush-head) studs are available in aluminum, steel, or stainless steel. They are also available unthreaded in a particular order.- The flush head is in the designated minimum sheet thickness or more significant.

Type FH is recommended for use in steel or aluminum sheets HRB (Rockwell "B" scale) 80 or less and HB (Hardness Brinell) 150 or less.

Type FHS is recommended for use in steel or aluminum sheets. HRB (Rockwell "B" scale) is 70 or less, and HB (Hardness Brinell) is 125 or less.

Type FHA is recommended for use in aluminum sheets. HRB (Rockwell "B" scale) is 50 or less, and HB (Hardness Brinell) is 82 or less.

Installation - FH™/FHS™/FHA™ Threaded Studs

1. Prepare a properly sized mounting hole in the sheet. Do not perform any secondary operations, such as deburring.

2. Insert stud through mounting hole (punch side) of sheet and into anvil hole.

3. With punch and anvil surfaces parallel, apply squeezing force to embed the head of the stud flush in the sheet. In most cases,

when using sheets .060"/1.51 mm and thicker, the anvil requires only a straight thru-hole to accommodate the stud. For sheets less

than .060/1.51 mm, the hole requires a countersink for metal flow around the shank of the stud.

Installation - FH4™/FHP™ Studs For Stainless Steel Sheets

1. Prepare a properly sized mounting hole in the sheet. Do not perform any secondary operations, such as deburring.

2. Insert stud through mounting hole (punch side) of sheet and

into anvil hole.

3. With punch and anvil surfaces parallel, apply squeezing force to embed the head of the stud flush in the sheet. For FH4/FHP studs, a special anvil with a raised ring is required to create a proper installation. The raised ring acts as a second displacer of the stainless sheet material, ensuring the annular groove is filled. Please see page 25 for recommended sheet thickness range. The special anvils are available from stock or machined using suitable tool steel. A minimum HRC 55 / HB 547 hardness is required for a long anvil life. We recommend measuring the "P" dimension every 5000 installations to ensure the anvil remains within specification.

Installation - FHL™/FHLS™ Studs

For sheets .060” /

1.51 mm and thicker, the anvil requires only a straight thru-hole to accommodate the stud. For sheets less than .060" / 1.51 mm, the

hole requires a countersink with dimension A at the top to provide for metal flow around the shank of the stud.

The following points should be noted when installing Self-Clinching Flush-Head Studs:

1. Be sure to keep the reverse side of the plate on which the pressure rivet screws are mounted smooth and intact.

2. Single-sided mounting is subject to protection requirements, including, but not limited to, components that must be completely isolated from air, liquids, dust, gases, or other potentially permeable elements.

3. Pay attention to the size of milled countersunk holes - only the recommended size and minimum depth of milled countersunk holes are required.

3. It is best to use the original riveting machine to install the riveting screws for best results.

In addition, all metal panel fastener products meet strict quality standards. If additional industry or other specific quality approvals are required for a production design, the customer must provide the appropriate special programs and part numbers.

Juxin Fasteners has introduced hundreds of new fastening designs and applications and continues providing more competent, reliable, and efficient products and solutions for communications, automotive, electronics, aerospace, and many other high-tech industries.
