Automatic camshaft machining is a type of automated machining process in which the machining program is controlled by a camshaft. It is widely used in the field of mechanical machining automation and is characterized by its fast processing speed and high precision. It features automatic feeding and automatic machine stop after the material is finished, allowing one person to operate multiple machine tools simultaneously. The key characteristics are as follows:


1. Fast processing speed: Cam-type automatic lathes are equipped with five cutting tools, allowing simultaneous operations such as threading, milling, knurling, and embossing without manual intervention. Complex parts can be processed synchronously for external turning, spherical surfaces, conical surfaces, curved surfaces, steps, grooving, embossing, drilling, tapping, plate teeth, and cutting in a single machining operation.


2. High dimensional control accuracy: The spindle precision of the machine tool can reach 0.003mm, and the slide adjustment is controlled by a micrometer, achieving a dimensional control accuracy of 0.005mm. The spindle speed ranges from 2000 to 8000 RPM. The minimum feed amount for cutting can be controlled to 0.005, and the surface roughness of the workpiece (copper parts) can reach a minimum of Ra0.04-0.08.


3. Automatic feeding: The feeding mechanism automatically feeds the workpiece to the spindle, and the machine stops and alarms when the material is finished. The machining process does not require manual material inspection, achieving a fully automated production process. One operator can simultaneously operate multiple machines.


4. High production efficiency: This machine tool controls the machining process through the camshaft, completing one machining process with each revolution of the camshaft. The camshaft speed ranges from 1.0 to 36 revolutions per minute, which can be adjusted according to different machining parts. It can process approximately 30 parts per minute. With the ability to simultaneously perform cutting operations using five cutting tools, the machining efficiency is significantly higher compared to general CNC lathes and turret lathes.
