Name: Steel Thread-Forming Screws for Thin Plastic

1. These steel screws are zinc plated to resist corrosion in wet environments. They have a round shank and more sharply angled threads than other thread-forming screws, so they require less driving torque and reduce the risk of cracking thin plastic. A Torx drive allows you to apply extra force with less slippage or damage to the recess. Length is measured from under the head. Style B screws have a flange that distributes holding pressure and reduces the risk of crushing thin plastic. They are comparable to EJOT PT screws.
2. Stainless Steel Thread-Forming Screws for Thin Plastic
18-8 stainless steel screws have good chemical resistance and may be mildly magnetic. They have a round shank and more sharply angled threads than other thread-forming screws, so they require less driving torque and reduce the risk of cracking thin plastic. A Torx drive allows you to apply extra force with less slippage or damage to the recess. Round head screws have a flange under the head that distributes holding pressure and reduces the risk of crushing thin plastic. They’re comparable to EJOT PT screws. Length is measured from under the flange.
The threads of self-tapping screws can be either standard threads (machine threads) or self-tapping threads (coarse threads). Additionally, there are drywall screw threads, fiberboard screw threads, and other special types of threads. Machine threads are the same as those used in general bolts and screws, and only the major diameter of the thread is required to be checked using a thread gauge in self-tapping screws. Here, we will not further discuss machine threads and focus on other types of threads used in self-tapping screws.
Self-tapping threads (coarse threads):
(1) ISO, GB/T, DIN self-tapping threads: Thread designation ST, thread angle 60°, standard designations: ISO1478, GB/T5280, DIN7979.
Diameter series: 1.5, 1.9, 2.2, 2.9, 3.3, 3.5, 3.9, 4.2, 4.8, 5.5, 6.3, 8, 9.5.
(2) ASME self-tapping threads: Dimensions are shown in Table 2, no thread designation, thread angle 60°.
Diameter series: 0#, 1#, 2#, 3#, 4#, 5#, 6#, 7#, 8#, 10#, 12#, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 1/2.
1. Self-locking threads: The threads of self-extrusion self-tapping screws are standard threads (machine threads) with a coarse thread series. The screw has a triangular cross-section with a curved profile, known as self-locking threads.
2. Fiberboard screw threads: Fiberboard screw threads have a thread angle of 40°.
3. Drywall screw threads: Drywall screw threads have a thread angle of 60°. Currently, there are no formal standards in various countries, and the dimensions can be found in the screw specification table. The fine thread is double-start, while the coarse thread is single-start.
