Characteristics of Automatic Lathe Machined Parts:
1. Automatic lathe machining is suitable for large-scale production. Automatic lathes enable fully automated machining of workpieces using dedicated automatic feeding mechanisms and tooling fixtures, resulting in high efficiency. However, many components require specialized designs to significantly improve efficiency. Therefore, when the batch size of the workpiece is too small, using automatic lathes for machining small parts can be cumbersome, as it may require adjustments to the tooling fixtures and automatic feeding mechanisms.
2. The product or workpiece structure should be suitable for automatic feeding machining. When using automatic lathes for machining parts, the workpiece structure should be compatible with fully automated workpiece sorting and feeding. For example, the workpiece should be able to be fed through mechanisms such as a vibratory bowl feeder, or long shaft-type parts should be suitable for automatic feeding through hoppers. If necessary, manual unloading can be done on guide rails. Additionally, workpieces with circular or hexagonal cross-sections are more suitable for fully automated machining, while complex shapes are more challenging to machine automatically.
3. The suitability of the workpiece material for fully automated machining. Materials such as brass, zinc alloys, and regular carbon steel have good machinability and cause minimal tool wear, making them suitable for automatic lathe machining. On the other hand, materials like high-speed steel and stainless steel have poorer machinability, resulting in significant tool wear during machining. Materials like bronze can be challenging to handle during machining, and certain steel materials exhibit severe work hardening, making them less suitable for fully automated machining on automatic lathes.
The diameter, length, machining steps and processes of the workpiece should be suitable for automatic lathe machining. These factors should be taken into consideration to ensure that the workpiece dimensions and machining requirements align with the capabilities of automatic lathes.
