A locating pin is a fastener used to precisely orient or position the item, also known as a guide pin. Positioning pins have the effect of limiting the degrees of freedom of the item and are mainly used for position determination based on two-dimensional space. Positioning pins are cylindrical in shape as shown below, with a flat head and chamfered ends for easier installation, and are widely used in various aspects such as positioning devices, the center of rotation, and linear alignment. The materials of the pin are carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, etc. Because of the need to repeatedly clamp the workpiece in use, so the positioning pin is required to have good wear resistance, the positioning pin TPS provided by Screw Street is made of high-quality SUS303 stainless steel, good corrosion resistance, and wear resistance.

Installation steps: 

1、Punch the corresponding installation holes on the thin plate.

2、Put the plate on the base of the tooling, and align the hole of the plate with the hole of the base.

3、Put the positioning pin into the opening of the sheet.

4、Set up the riveting parameters and press down evenly.

5、Rivet the positioning pin on the thin plate to complete the installation.

Some of the positioning pins need to be chamfered during the installation, why should they be chamfered? Because the positioning pin and the positioning hole with high precision with small clearance, chamfering is convenient for the positioning pin into the positioning hole to play a guiding role.
