Steel 1018 Machined Parts
Manufacturing has a reputation for machining quality parts from 1018 Steel. We can machine intricate parts on our CNC Swiss machines and CNC turning centers. Steel alloy 1018 is a general-purpose alloy, ideal for parts that require forming and surface hardening. While not as machinable, it is a good choice for parts that require very strong welds and a lower strength than high-carbon alloys. 1018 is available case-hardened only.1018 has a machining cost factor of 2.4 when compared to steel 12L14. It produces exceptional welds that do not require pre- or post-heating processes. 1018 responds well to case hardening and heat treatment.General Characteristics: Plain low carbon steel, poor machinability but good formability and weldability. Case harden only
Common Applications: Rivets and parts requiring strong welds, Endless commercial products; probably more pounds used in turned products than any other material.
Characteristics, performance, and uses of chemical nickel plating:
1. Thickness uniformity Uniform thickness and good uniformity of coating are the main features of chemical nickel plating and one of the reasons for its wide application. Chemical nickel plating avoids uneven coating thickness due to uneven current distribution. When chemical coating, as long as the surface of the parts is in contact with the coating solution, the consumed components in the coating solution can be replenished in time, and the thickness of the coating on the coated parts is basically the same, even in the recesses, gaps and blind holes.
2. The plated parts are impervious to hydrogen, with no hydrogen embrittlement, and no need to remove hydrogen after chemical nickel plating.
3. Many materials and parts are better than an electroplated nickel in terms of corrosion resistance and high-temperature oxidation resistance.
4. It can be applied to the surface of various materials, such as nickel-based steel alloy, zinc-based alloy, aluminum alloy, glass, ceramics, plastics, semiconductors, and other materials, thus improving the performance of these materials.
5. General plating does not need a DC motor or control equipment.
6. Low-temperature heat treatment. As long as the temperature is below 400℃ and different holding times, different corrosion resistance and wear resistance can be obtained. Therefore, it is especially suitable for the function of parts with complex shapes and surfaces, and wear-resistant requirements.
