Steel 1018 Machined Parts
Manufacturing has a reputation for machining quality parts from 1018 Steel. We can machine intricate parts on our CNC Swiss machines and CNC turning centers. Steel alloy 1018 is a general-purpose alloy, ideal for parts that require forming and surface hardening. While not as machinable, it is a good choice for parts that require very strong welds and a lower strength than high-carbon alloys. 1018 is available case-hardened only.1018 has a machining cost factor of 2.4 when compared to steel 12L14. It produces exceptional welds that do not require pre- or post-heating processes. 1018 responds well to case hardening and heat treatment.General Characteristics: Plain low carbon steel, poor machinability but good formability and weldability. Case harden only
Common Applications: Rivets and parts requiring strong welds, Endless commercial products; probably more pounds used in turned products than any other material.
Extruded nut columns are a type of nut used in thin or sheet metal applications. They have a circular shape and feature knurled teeth and guiding grooves on one end. The principle behind them is to press the knurled teeth into a pre-drilled hole in the metal sheet.
1. Generally, the diameter of the pre-drilled hole is slightly smaller than the diameter of the knurled teeth on the extruded nut column. By applying pressure, the knurled teeth of the nut column are forced into the sheet, causing plastic deformation around the pre-drilled hole and securing the nut in place within the guiding grooves.
2. The production process of extruded nut columns is similar to that of other screws. The screw machine drives the screw, while the nut machine drives the nut. They are commonly used in chassis, cabinets, and sheet metal industries. They were developed to meet the requirements for fastening sheet metal components in the automotive industry as an alternative to welding nuts. Extruded nut columns, also known as press-fit nuts or nut columns, are special fasteners used in sheet metal, thin plates, enclosures, and cabinets. They are a common type of mechanical component.
3. These products have advantages such as firmness, aesthetics, convenience, a wide range of riveting, high clamping force, high-performance level, and good shock resistance. They can be widely used in industries such as "electrical and electronic, electrical control, electrical cabinets, rail transportation, automotive manufacturing, machinery and ships, and refrigerated containers." This product mainly uses metal wire with good plasticity as the main raw material. It undergoes wire modification, equipment transformation, special die design, special process technology, multiple deformations, knurling, flaring, punching, thread tapping, heat treatment, and surface treatment through multi-station intelligent cold heading equipment with special molds. As a result, the product achieves and meets the special requirements of automotive sheet metal components in terms of performance and functionality, making it suitable for sheet metal, thin plates, enclosures, cabinets, electromechanical, electronics, telecommunications, electrical control, and other industries. With its unique and creative design, novel practical functions, and exquisite craftsmanship, it effectively solves the problem of fixing automotive sheet metal and thin-walled components, and provides a convenient, fast, high torque resistance, and secure locking method, breaking through the traditional difficulties in tapping on thin walls, the tendency to rotate after riveting, and susceptibility to deformation due to slight mishandling.
