Stainless Steel Knurled Dowel Pins
Knurled pins are often used in place of clevis pins or to create T-handles. The knurled center locks pins in position, while the smooth ends act as a pivot. Because these pins are knurled all the way around, they distribute twisting forces more evenly than grooved pins. The ends are chamfered for easy insertion. Pins are made of steel for good strength. Breaking strength is measured as double shear, which is the force required to break a pin into three pieces.Slip these pins in and out during maintenance or prototyping—they’re undersized to make alignment easier. Unlike standard pins, which fit tightly inside holes, these are designed to give you some wiggle room. Chamfered ends make them easier to insert. The breaking strength listed is double shear, which is the amount of force required to break a pin into three pieces. All metric pins meet ISO 2338-h8, which means they adhere to international standards for dimensions and tolerances.
Requirements for machining stainless steel shafts:
Determine the raw material for the stainless steel gear shaft:
When determining the raw material size, it is important to consider whether the machining allowance can meet the process requirements. In particular, for gear carburizing and quenching, when using the "allowance protection" method for non-carburized surfaces, the value of the allowance protection needs to be considered.
1. Rough machining of stainless steel gear shafts:
The rough machining of gears is performed to remove machining allowances and establish a reference for semi-finishing while roughing the gear teeth. It is important to select a suitable reference, as it has a significant impact on the allocation of machining allowances for subsequent surfaces and the relative positions between machined and non-machined surfaces.
2. During rough machining, the protection method for non-carburized surfaces during chemical heat treatment of the part should be considered. Generally, there are two methods: copper plating protection and allowance protection. The former involves protecting the non-carburized surface by copper plating, simultaneous carburizing and quenching, and then removing the copper layer, leaving the copper-plated area without a carbon layer. The latter involves leaving sufficient machining allowance on the non-carburized surface (greater than the carburizing depth), performing full carburizing, then turning away the carbon layer on the non-carburized surface, and finally quenching.
When machining stainless steel gear shafts, precision should be emphasized. Detailed data such as the diameter of the stainless steel gear shaft should be accurately determined to minimize errors. When carburizing the surface of the stainless steel gear shaft, attention should be paid to the quantity of carburizing agents used.
