Performance characteristics:

1. Shear resistance: Rivets in the structural connections of aerospace products primarily bear shear forces. Therefore, in general, rivet standards, and minimum shear strength requirements are specified. With improved testing methods and standards, dual shear specifications are increasingly being adopted. Dual-shear testing provides more accurate and reliable results compared to single-shear testing.


2. Joining performance: Joining performance refers to the formation requirements of the rivet head after riveting. The quality of the rivet head formation directly affects the riveting quality. Ordinary rivets for general use do not have specific requirements for joining performance. Joining performance and strength are two conflicting indicators, where higher strength results in poorer joining performance. Typically, the height of the rivet head after riveting is 0.35d-0.4d, and the diameter of the rivet head is above 1.4d. Strict requirements are also in place for cracks that may appear on the rivet head, allowing cracks only on the cylindrical surface of the rivet shank and not extending to the top surface. The total number of cracks should not exceed 3, and the width and depth should not exceed 0.07mm.
