1. For parts with relatively large machining capacity, symmetrical machining should be selected to improve the thermal conduction standard during machining and prevent localized heat generation.
If there are multiple concaves dies in sheet metal processing, it is not recommended to use a sequential approach for each concave die. This can lead to uneven internal stress and deformation in the parts. Instead, dual-layer processing should be employed, where each layer is processed in all concave dies as simultaneously as possible, followed by processing the next layer. This ensures an even distribution of forces on the part, reducing deformation.
2. Adjust the cutting amount to reduce cutting friction resistance and heat. Among the three elements of cutting amount, excessive cutting amount poses a significant risk of cutting friction resistance. If there is excessive material removal, it will increase the cutting friction resistance during each feed, not only causing part deformation but also jeopardizing the rigidity of the lathe spindle and reducing the durability of the CNC tool. Reducing the dosage of inserts can significantly reduce costs and improve efficiency. However, it is worth noting that this problem can be overcome with the use of CNC milling machines. By reducing the back-off amount and correspondingly increasing the cutting speed and the spindle speed ratio of the CNC lathe, cutting friction resistance can be reduced while ensuring efficient machining.
3. Pay attention to the sequence of CNC tool inserts. Rough machining focuses on improving machining efficiency and achieving maximum material removal in the shortest possible time. Typically, you can use a back-turning tool. This removes excessive raw material from the surface layer of the workpiece in the shortest time and with the least amount of time, essentially creating the geometric contour required for precision machining. The key to precision machining lies in high precision and high quality, utilizing face milling. In climb milling, the cutting thickness of the teeth gradually decreases from the maximum value to zero, reducing the level of part deformation and significantly reducing work hardening during machining.
4. Thick-walled workpieces tend to deform due to their locked molds throughout the machining process, making it difficult to avoid even during precision machining. To minimize workpiece deformation, it is advisable to release the clamping force before reaching the final specifications during precision machining. This allows the workpiece to naturally return to its previous shape and slightly shrink. The workpiece should be firmly clamped (but not excessively) to achieve the desired machining results. In general, it is best to apply clamping force at the supporting surface, and the clamping force should act at an angle where the workpiece has good bending stiffness. Assuming the workpiece does not come loose, the clamping force should be kept as low as possible.
