Steel has a higher Brinell hardness range (80 and 600) than aluminum (around 15). Likewise, steel has higher tensile and yield strength than aluminum. Therefore, steel is stronger but less machinable.

Processing speed: aluminum is lighter than steel, and its processing speed will be faster. In addition, aluminum cools faster than steel after heating, which means that steel takes longer to process.

Cost: Many times, manufacturers choose between steel and aluminum because of cost. Especially when both materials are suitable for a certain part and project, the cost of CNC machining of steel is generally higher than that of aluminum.
