Product Specification

1. Carbon steel shafts are usually used in low-speed, low-load, and low-friction environments, such as conveyor belts, conveyors, etc. Alloy steel shafts are usually used in high-speed, high-load, and high-friction environments, such as automobile engines, aircraft engines, etc. Stainless steel shafts are usually used in corrosive environments, such as food processing equipment, medical equipment, etc.


2. Aluminum is a lightweight, corrosion-resistant metal material with good thermal conductivity and machinability. Aluminum shafts are usually used in low-load and low-speed environments, such as power tools, home appliances, etc.


3. Copper is an excellent conductive material with good thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance.


The difference between machining steel parts and aluminum parts


One of the reasons why CNC machining is widely used at present is that it is compatible with various metals and even plastics, but the two most common materials for CNC machining are steel and aluminum. The following is a comparison of CNC steel machining and aluminum machining.


Machinability: Machinability depends on a variety of factors, including the hardness and strength of the metal. Generally speaking, the higher the hardness, the lower its machinability. Steel has a higher Brinell hardness range (80 and 600) than aluminum (around 15). Likewise, steel has higher tensile and yield strength than aluminum. Therefore, steel is stronger but less machinable.


Processing speed: aluminum is lighter than steel, and its processing speed will be faster. In addition, aluminum cools faster than steel after heating, which means that steel takes longer to process.


Cost: Many times, manufacturers choose between steel and aluminum because of cost. Especially when both materials are suitable for a certain part and project, the cost of CNC machining of steel is generally higher than that of aluminum.
