An alternative to bolts and rivets, these pins lock in place with a cotter pin. Choose a clevis pin and add your own cotter pin, or select a clevis pin that includes a reusable hairpin cotter pin.

Steel pins have good strength. Heat-treated pins have additional strength and hardness, making them less likely to bend, break, and wear than pins that aren't heat treated. Pins with a zinc-plated finish have some corrosion resistance. Pins with a zinc-yellow-chromate-plated finish are more corrosion-resistant than zinc-plated pins. Galvanized pins are the most corrosion-resistant steel pins.

Pins that meet SAE specifications conform to SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) dimensional standards.

Steel alloy 1045 is a versatile medium carbon alloy, ideal for parts that require strength and impact resistance. Due to its higher carbon content, it has higher tensile strength. 1045 has excellent ductility and toughness.1045 has a machining cost factor of 3.0 when compared to steel 12L14. It is not ideal for welding or forming due to its higher carbon content. 1045 responds to heat treatment extremely well, but it is not ideal for case hardening.
