For the combination of hexagon head bolts and washers, when the bolt preload is low, it provides a good anti-loosening effect. However, since the spring washer is not used in critical areas, pneumatic wrenches with an accuracy of about ±40% are mainly used for tightening bolts with spring washers during production. As a result, the assembly torque and axial force have large variations, and the spring washer is often flattened or even at the risk of expanding. The actual anti-loosening performance of the bolt and spring washer combination is uncontrollable and does not meet the product design requirements. On the other hand, hexagon flange bolts have the following advantages:

1. Under the same thread specification, hexagon flange bolts have a larger supporting area on the flange surface than hexagon head bolts, which better disperses the pressure on the supporting surface and avoids the deformation of the connected parts.

2. Under the same coefficient of friction, flange bolts have a significantly better anti-loosening effect than hexagon head bolts.

3. To avoid frictional damage to the surface of the connected part caused by the end of the socket, flange bolts offer better economy compared to using hexagon head bolt assemblies with flat washers. Therefore, hexagon flange bolts are recommended as a priority, while the use of hexagon head bolts, hexagon head bolts with spring washers, hexagon head bolts with spring washers and flat washers, and hexagon head bolts with flat washers should be restricted.

Made from Grade 8 steel, these screws can be used in high-stress applications, such as valves, pumps, motors, and automotive suspension systems. They are at least 25% stronger than medium-strength steel screws. Large flat sides make them easy to grip with a wrench and keep them from rotating in square holes. A zinc yellow-chromate plating provides corrosion resistance in wet environments. Grade 8 steel square head screws are marked with six radial lines. Dimensions meet ASME B18.2.1 specifications.
